Phases of the cycleThe employment cycle involves an organisation determining its employment needs in line with its business strategyfor the future. This cycle has THREE identifiable phases -

Stage 1 Establishment
  • Planning identifying staffing needs, conducting job analysis
  • Recruitment attracting people to apply for the position from external sources or from internal or existing pool of people
  • Selection process of selecting a suitable applicant from the pool

Stage 2 Maintenance
  • Induction and training teaching employees new skills, devising new training packages to develop new skills
  • Skills inventory compiling a data base of existing skills of employees
  • Monetary benefits setting pay rates and financial compensation
  • Non-monetary benefits fringe benefits
